Post Commander's Message July 2019

Jack Bridges - 7/1/2019

I would like to thank all of the volunteers who worked during Creekside. Our success was depressed a little due to weather, but we still managed to come out in the black and have a good time in doing it. I truly enjoyed the company and the conversations with everyone.

There will be a few changes in how we run the canteen, but nothing drastic. We will be instituting a House Committee whose job will be take suggestions, increase business make the club experience enjoyable, and handle complaints. Please give us your ideas.

July 4 is coming soon. The Honor Guard will be marching per usual. If anyone would like to walk behind them, wear comfortable shoes and VFW/American Legion covers or veteran gear. We start at the Dairy Queen on Granville (parade kicks off at 10:30) & winds up behind the Heartland Bank on Stygler Rd.. We are working on the float again for those who cannot walk. Myself, American Legion Commander Jack Steinhausser, and VFW Auxiliary President Marti Bridges are your Grand Marshals this year! Come out to see us and join us back at the post for a light lunch afterwards.

We need volunteers in general for Friday dinners and Sunday breakfasts so we can get a good rotation in. Please see Canteen Manager Dutch.

We also need Honor Guard members. We do dozens of funerals, plus the Memorial Day, Veterans Day ceremonies and much more. Please see Jack Steinhausser or ask one of the members.

If you have a business, or know someone who does, we will now be selling ad space in the newsletter. Please contact me at 614.746.0331 or at for details.

The post is running a raffle. $5 per ticket (total of 200 tickets printed). Prizes range from $25-$200. Please see the bartender. Drawing will be at the Post Picnic on August 10. Do not need to be a member and do not need to be present to win.
